Science-Based Management And Upland Community Development In The Philippines The Case of Mount Makiling Forest Reserve

Editor: Lapitan, Portia G.

According to editor Dr. Portia G. Lapitan, who is also the lead author, professor of forestry and vice chancellor for academic affairs of UPLB, the book is the first attempt to synthesize a number of research studies about Mount Makiling, where significant scientific investigations have been conducted since the early 1900s.

The book also puts in focus how research findings could be harnessed to contribute to the inclusive growth of upland farm communities while maintaining the ecological integrity of the mountain.

Funded by the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) through the UPLB Foundation, Inc., the book aims to contribute to the development of a management and conservation plan for MMFR.

It consolidates the findings on biophysical resources of the MMFR as communities grow within and around the mountain through time.

The book features articles written by UPLB faculty members and researchers, namely  Nicasio M. Balahadia, Prof. Juancho B. Balatibat, Dr. Nathaniel C. Bantayan, Corazon A. Calimag, Dr. Manuel L. Castillo, Dr. Priscila C. Dolom, Prof. Pamela Joyce M. Eleazar,  Agnes M. Mora, Dr. Nelson M. Pampolina, Atty. Eleno O. Peralta, Dr. Juan M. Pulhin, and Dr. Teodoro R. Villanueva.
