Norman, a soft-spoken squatter, is in love with Mercy, daughter of a rich land-owner. When her father decided to develop his land into a commercial center, he had a demolition team mow down the shanties prompting a violent confrontation during which Norman's mother was accidentally killed. In a fit of rage, Norman storms the richman's house, wounds the old man and then abducts Mercy. Norman, however, releases Mercy unharmed but her father is intent on jailing Norman.
